Mrs. Emily B Johnson

Hello, my name is Emily Johnson and I am the new Assistant Principal at Jacksonville Commons Elementary. I graduated from Appalachian State University in December of 2010.  I moved to Oklahoma, where my husband was stationed for a year. During that time, I offered tutoring services for military families. In 2012, we returned to North Carolina. I taught at Richlands Elementary School for my first year of teaching.  We decided to return home to be closer to our families, and I accepted a job in Caldwell County, NC, where I taught for 6 years at an alternative elementary school. While there, I gained a background in Trauma Informed Classroom and Social/Emotional Learning. In 2019, I took a year off to be with my family and for self-care.  In 2020, I returned to Onslow County Schools, teaching first and fifth grade at Queens Creek Elementary School. I am currently in my second year of the Masters of School Administration program at East Carolina University. I am excited about joining Jacksonville Commons Elementary School as the assistant principal and look forward to a new, exciting year!
